Weather Effects On Fires

An evening over Applegate Lakeand smoke is peaking out of the Siskiyou National Forest.

A sign of eight wildfires started Thursday during summer storms.

Forest service fire fighters are working to get them out.

Bob Gale is with the Siskiyou National Forest, hesays weather conditions are making it tricky for fire crews.

“The rain has its plus and minuses along with the thunder it brings inerraticwinds.”

Much of the same on state landswhere lightning sparked 16 new fires in Jackson and Josephine Counties,but the good news is they’re all small.

Fire fighters say they’re expecting more summer stormsand say now more than ever people need to be careful.

“Hunting season starts this weekend people need to know the dangers of lightening and be careful at all time,” says Gale.
