Wine festival brings in hundreds of thousands for kids health

Jacksonville, Ore. — Hundreds of people coming together today to celebrate Southern Oregon’s delicious wines, while raising money for a good cause.

A grand tasting wrapped up this week’s “Oregon Wine Experience.”The festival is made possible by a ten year partnership between Asante Foundation and the Southern Oregon Wine Industry.

The goal is to develop a destination style wine event that benefits pediatrics at Asante through Children’s Miracle Network.

“People already come from all around the world to visit Crater Lake or fish the Rogue or to see a Shakespeare. We want that to expand so they come in enjoy our great wine country our beautiful area our hospitality,” Asante Foundation’s Executive Director Floyd Harmon said.

This is the second year for the event. Last year it raised $300,000 for kids health. Organizers said they’re on their way to raise $500,000 this year.
