Shasta County, Ore. – A missing man was found dead in a creek north of the town of Burney in northern California.
Deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said they received a report Saturday of an unknown man found in Burney Creek who was possibly dead.
Deputies responded to the scene and found the body of a man in swift moving water.
The sheriff’s office said the man was later identified as 39-year-old Burney resident Carl D. Eleck Jr.
Eleck was reported missing by family members on Wednesday, March 29.
With the assistance of search and rescue personnel, Eleck’s body was recovered from the water.
Police said they still have questions about the circumstances of the death, but foul play does not appear to be involved.
The incident is remains under investigation.
