Oregon man drowns after saving daughter

MARION COUNTY, Ore. (CNN) – A 29-year-old Oregon man drowned after saving his own child.

Authorities were called to North Fork Park in Marion County Thursday afternoon.

They say Baltazar Tellovelasco went underwater and couldn’t resurface.

Deputies say he had just rescued his 12-year-old daughter, who was in distress.

Bystanders were eventually able to get Tellovelasco out, but emergency services weren’t able to resuscitate him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
