“Out of the Darkness” walk to raise suicide awareness

Medford, Ore — A Medford supermarket is bringing awareness to a sensitive issue while remembering one of their own this weekend.

Employees at the Safeway on Crater Lake Highway are helping organize a community walk in honor of Annette Ballew, a Safeway employee who took her own life earlier this year.

The ‘Out of the Darkness’ community walk is aimed at helping those who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.

“For people who are grieving, for people who want to share that experience with people who are going through the same thing, and just a way to bring healing to the people that are hurting right now,” said store director Rachel McCoy.

The walk is this Saturday, September 17th at Robert Pfaff Park in Central Point. Check in time is at 11am and the walk begins at noon. To register visit www.asfp.org/Medford.
