Portland, Ore. – (KGW) The Washington Post just said what we already knew – Portland is the #1 food city in America.
Portland has topped lists of best cities for restaurants consistently, but this one holds a bit more heft. Food critic Tom Sietsema said he ate at 271 restaurants, bars, food stores and farmers markets around the country over the course of 60 days.
Sietsema praised San Francisco (#2), Washington D.C. (#9), Chicago (#7) and Houston (#5) for their inspiring restaurants and foodie cultures.
But Portland won, hands-down. Sietsema’s effusively praised the Rose City’s produce, casual dining, coffee shops and wine. He even loved the low-brow (Burgerville, vegan strip clubs).
