Rogue River man sentenced for 2015 shootings

0722 Shad DunbarMedford, Ore. — A Rogue River man who is accused of firing shots at a newspaper delivery car pleaded guilty to multiple charges and will face a decade behind bars.

The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office said Shad Dunbar pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

According to police, Dunbar targeted two people delivering newspapers in the early morning hours of September 5, 2015. He shot at the victims from his driveway as they were attempting to flee in their car.

Police said Dunbar pursued the victims in his own car, firing at them as they drove through a residential neighborhood. As the victims drove up to a gas station in attempt to dial 911, Dunbar pulled up next to them and fired his at the car, shattering the back window.

Officers said Dunbar was located two days later hiding in the attic of a home on Roberts Road in Medford.

Dunbar faces 10 years behind bars and 3 years of post-prison supervision.
