“Back to the Future” day arrives

Not only is the film franchise it celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, but Wednesday in particular has special significance.

It’s the day the film’s characters arrive “in the future”.

Back in 1989, “Back To The Future II” predicted a lot about what this exact date might look like. Some of it’s still pretty fanciful, but real life engineers are trying to get us closer.

Working hoverboards are in development, and while Deloreans have not yet taken to the skies, a self driving delorean, modified by engineers at Stanford, can take riders for a spin.
