Watson Creek Fire grows to over 40,000 acres in Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, Ore. – The Watson Creek Fire grew even larger Wednesday night, but crews were able to hold containment at 10%.

The fire is now more than 40,000 acres. It’s burning in the Fremont-Winema National Forest about 6 miles west of Paisley.

The town of Paisley west of Highway 31 is under Level 2 (be ready) evacuation notices along with residents west of Highway 31 from Beachler’s Corner north on Highway 31 to the 29 Road, a.k.a. Government Harvey Pass Road.

East of Highway 31 is now subject to a Level 1 evacuation notice.

Level 3 (GO) evacuation notices for the Lakeview Estates neighborhood just north of Campbell and Deadhorse Lakes in the Fremont-Winema National Forest are still in effect.

The fire is 10% contained.
