Controlled burn may send smoke above Grants Pass

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – You may see smoke north of Grants Pass Wednesday.

A private forestry company is conducting a 40-acre prescribed burn.

According to the Oregon Department of Forestry, a 15-person crew, two engines, and a water tender are on hand.

The group will also be patrolling the area over the next couple days to ensure the fire doesn’t re-ignite.

At noon Wednesday, the DEQ Air Quality Index showed air quality levels at “moderate” for the Rogue Valley.
