Early warming trend worries local farmers

Medford, Ore. — After a weekend of continuous rain and warmer temperatures on the horizon, how are local crops holding up

Dunbar Farms in east Medford says it depends on the type of crop.

One of their biggest worries is the warmer temperatures playing tricks on their grape harvest, some of them are starting to bud early.

“What happens if we get too much growth, we will have to start to frost protect earlier, and that’s a very touch and go operation sometimes.” said David Mostue, Dunbar Farm’s Manager.

Meanwhile the past weekend’s rain is good news for saving water in their reservoir for the summer growing season.
