Curry County Non-Emergency Sheriff Phone Lines Down

Late Tuesday evening, a fire in gold beach at the Soroptomist building on Caughell street severed a communications cable that cut off most telephone and data service to parts of Gold Beach, including the Curry County Sheriffs Office.

Administrative non-emergency phone lines into and out of the sheriffs office were down most of Tuesday night.

As of 6 A.M. Wednesday morning, crews began work to repair the lines.

Emergency 911 service was restored quickly and transferred to Brookings Police Department, where those calls will continue to be answered until redirected back to Curry County sheriffs office.

All repairs are expected to be accomplished sometime Wednesday morning.

Until then, citizens are asked to avoid making non-emergency calls to the sheriffs office while repair work continues.
