13 Million to Participate in “Great Shakeout”

On Thursday, nearly 13 million Americans including 110,000

Oregonians are expected to participate in “The Great Shakeout”

The event starts at 10:18 Thursday morning when residents will stop what they are doing to “drop, cover, and hold on.”

Officials say the best way to protect yourself during a quake is to drop to the ground, take cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on until the shaking stops.

Oregon is located in the Cascadia subduction zone, a 600 mile long earthquake fault stretching from Northern California to Southern British Columbia.
