Curry County Loses Three in Sheriff’s Department

The Curry County Sheriff’s department is losing three members, including the Undersheriff.

Sheriff John Bishop has confirmed both a patrol and jail-deputy are leaving the struggling coastal county, bringing the office down to four patrol deputies and 10 at the jail.

Undersheriff Bob Rector is also leaving the department, and is reportedly taking a job with the State Police in Central Point.

Without federal timber payments, Curry County is facing massive budget cuts to their Sheriff’s department.

A tax increase to fund law enforcement is on the May ballot.
