New bunks going in at Klamath County Jail

Klamath Falls, Ore. — More bunks are being installed to increase capacity at the Klamath County Jail.

Klamath County Sheriff Frank Skrah says he wants to make sure criminals have a place to stay…

“You think you’re going to commit crimes in Klamath County – Whether it’s the city, or somewhere in the county, you are going to jail.”

So, he’s installing extra beds at the jail.

“We’re going to put in 44 now, and I hope to put in an additional 44.”

The jail currently can hold over 150 inmates.

But Skrah says he wants to keep the maximum capacity a secret…

“We can’t divulge that number. That’s a number we don’t want to talk about.”

Skrah explains that if criminals know the jail is full, they’ll be booked and released.

Skrah hopes the new bunks will help to send a fresh message…

“We have room for you.”
