Authorities are doing all they can to track down a killer still on the loose, trying to close a murder case that’s still, so far unsolved.
On Tuesday, authorities released surveillance images of potential witnesses they were trying to locate. Police say they’ve since found those people after they saw their pictures on television.
“Just knowing who they are and getting their statements is a big step for us,” said Lt. Mike Budreau of the Medford Police Department.
NBC 5 chose to blur the images because we’re told those potential witnesses are concerned about their safety.
“Although we certainly think there isn’t much reason for concern…We do have a murderer on the loose,” said Lt. Budreau.
On the Bear Creek Greenway in Medford Wednesday morning, authorities searched under bushes, scanned the bike path and even a dog showed up, trying to sniff out evidence officers may have missed.
“We’ve already done these searches a couple times…just expanding the perimeter and using more personnel to make sure we didn’t miss anything,” said Lt. Budreau.
It’s been more than a week and police are still searching for the person who killed 58-year-old William Huson, a Valley Cab driver whose body was found off Vilas Road with a gunshot to the head, and his abandoned cab…police say…driven by the suspect to a deserted parking lot near 9th and Almond Streets in Medford.
“We don’t know where the suspect went after that…he could have walked on the bike path in either direction and possibly discarded…some critical evidence we’re looking for,” said Lt. Budreau.
Meantime a family remains desperate for answers.
“I am begging the public for information that will bring my husband’s killer to justice,” said Susan Huson, William’s wife.
For now police say they still don’t have a suspect or person of interest.
“It’s still early in the investigation and there’s a lot of work to be done…we are by no means coming close to an end here,” Budreau said.
Detectives and officers continue to pound the pavement, hoping for a lead that could break the case.
Police are still looking for witnesses to come forward with more information.
