Salems Capitol Needs Upgrades

The Capitol Master Plan AdvisoryCommittee is recommending 250 million dollars in upgrades to Oregon’s capitol building to make sure it holds up in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster.

The committee has recommended updated plumbing, ventilation, and electrical for the capitol building in Salem.

If the upgrades are approved, the work would require bond issues for funding and the project would take three to four years to complete.

Afull report from the Legislative Administration Committee is expected next month.
