Man Shot in Merlin

Oregon State Troopers are looking for answers tonight after a shooting in Merlin leaves one man injured and a home owner missing.

NBC-5’s Roma Villavicencio joins us live with the details.

Investigators I spoke with today say Dennis Allen Smith was involved in some sort of an altercation with a group of men who pulled up to his trailer Friday night.

OSP says during the incident shots were fired. When they arrived at the 6100 block of Monument Drive they found Matthew Roy Barbosa with a gunshot wound to the leg and no sign of Smith or theother parties involved

“At this point in time we’d really like to find Dennis Smith and talk to him. Right now we have other versions of events, but we feel his is valuable to our investigation. We would encourage him, despite the concerns he may have, to come in and talk with us.”

OSP will continue the investigation and are now seeking answers.

Barbosa was transported to the Three Rivers Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.

He is expected to be okay.

Leutenant Lux is asking the community to be on the look out for Smith who was last seen driving a mid 90’s green Dodge pickup with a crack on the windshield.

If you have any information you are asked to call OSP at 541-440-3333
