Curry County Residents May Face Increase In Taxes

Curry county residents may be facing an increase in property taxes, whether voters O.K. it or not.

A new proposal to fund public safety would ask voters for a $3.9 million property tax increase.

That’s down from the $4.5 million that was rejected in may.

If residents turn down the increase, officials may turn to Oregon house bill 3453 that would allow counties in financial trouble to implement new taxes without voter approval.

Officials say this would be a last resort.
