Medford Police Clean Up Greenway

Medford Police performed a sweep Thursday morning on the Bear Creek Greenway enforcing prohibited camping laws.

Around 2am Thursday morning, two teams made up of Medford Police officers walked through the area removing transients and their property.

Jackson County Mental Health Crisis Intervention Officials also walked the Greenway. Authorities say it’s the third sweep this year “We’re trying to bring some resources to the Greenway to some of these homeless people to try and help them deal with some of the issues that are maybe making them be homeless. We want to make this a safer place, and we want the citizens of Medford and people to know that we’re out here on a regular basis, and we’re trying to make this a safe place for everybody” said Cpl. Steve Furst, with Medford Police.

A community justice work crew also walked through and clean up the area.
