Fire officials say a West Medford resident is lucky to be alive, after an early morning fire on Friday.
Fire officials say just after 3 Friday morning, crews were called to a structure fire on Chestnut street in Medford.
When engines arrived, the house was completely engulfed in flames.
The resident was able to get out safely, with the help of a neighbor. Fire officials say it likely saved their life, because a smoke detector did not go off.
Medford Fire and Fire District 3 responded. At this point, a cause has not been determined. More information will be released later on Friday.
