SOHS Slashes Adoption Fees on Black & Tan Animals

Instead of shopping this weekend, why not save a life and give a homeless pet a forever home

The Southern Oregon Humane Society is placing a lot of pets in new homes this weekend, thanks to their black & tan adoption weekend.

From Friday through Sunday, families looking to adopt tan chihuahua and black dogs or cats can do so and get a 50% discount on their adoption fees.

According to staff at the shelter, these dogs are some of the most likely to be abandoned and ultimately euthanized nationwide.

The economic disaster and foreclosures have created the worst crisis for Chihuahuas and Chi mixes in US history. Municipal shelters and private rescues are overwhelmed. The US is on track to euthanize 6,000,000 pets including nearly 1,000,000 Chihuahuas and small dogs.

The Southern Oregon Humane Society wants to be a positive force in helping with the worst crisis for Chihuahuas and Chi mixes in US history and fight the “Black Dog Syndrome.”

So far, the shelter has been able to get 11 dogs and 4 cats adopted. But they still need your help. The black and tan adoption specials run through Sunday. SOHS is located at 2910 Table Rock Road in Medford. They are open from 11am – 5pm daily. For more information, you can log onto sohumane.org or call (541) 779-3215.
