We have just learned that the sex scandal which prompted the resignation of Oregon’s US Represenative David Wu, is costing you– the taxpayer.
Late Wednesday, the state legislative emergency board approved a transfer of money to the Secretary of State’s office, to cover the extra costs of holding a special primary and general election to replace Wu in the state’s 1st Congressional District.
Thursdaymorning, the total cost to Oregon taxpayers isa little more than a half million dollars.
Wu, a democrat, resigned last August after allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct with the teenage daughter of a friend.
Former democratic state senator Suzanne Bonamici won and is now serving in Congress.
