Trump leading new poll of Republican Presidential candidates

Despite Donald Trump’s often controversial campaign, he’s leading a new poll of Republican presidential candidates.

The tone of Donald Trump’s campaign has drawn no shortage of detractors, this time, though, it’s Mike Huckabee creating controversy, invoking imagery of the holocaust in talking about the Iran nuclear deal.

During an interview with Breitbart News, he said, “This President’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history, it is so naive that he would trust the Iranians, by doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

President Barack Obama has defended the international nuclear deal with Iran, which would lift economic sanctions if Iran allows international inspections and scales back some of its nuclear capabilities. Huckabee’s analogy drew demands from the chair of the Democratic national committee to apologize to the Jewish community and the American people.

Huckabee’s campaign instead used Twitter to double down on the comment, Sunday, a campaign spokeswoman told CNN, “The comment speaks for itself.” meanwhile, Trump’s campaign is celebrating recent polling victories.

The latest CNN/ORC poll shows him as the top choice for the Republican nomination, though his lead over Jeb Bush is within the poll’s margin of error.

Trump has also generated a lot of negative attention, 42% of republicans in the poll said they had an unfavorable view of Donald Trump, among Democrats, that number was much, much higher.
