Central Point couple arrested and face elder abuse charges

Central Point, Ore. — A Central Point couple is in jail tonight after being charged with crimes associated with elder abuse.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Dana Garvin and 51-year-old Susan Garvin bilked an elderly family member out of more than $95,000 in cash, plus additional assets over an 18 month period.

The Garvins are each charged with two counts of criminal mistreatment in the first degree, three counts of aggravated theft in the first degree and two counts of forgery in the first degree, among others.

A judge has ordered a professional fiduciary to manage the victim’s care and finances.

Both Garvins have bail set at $58,000.
