Amanda Knox To Be Retried in 2007 Murder Case

Italy’s top criminal court overturned the acquittal of American student Amanda Knox in the murder of her roommate.

Italy’s Court of Cassation ruled that an appeals court in Florence must re-hear the murder case against Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.

The two were charged with murdering Meredith Kercher in 2007.

They were initially found guilty, but their convictions were overturned in 2011.

An independent forensic investigator had criticized the police investigation as unreliable.

Prosecutors filed an appeal, calling the acquittal contradictory and illogical.

No date has been announced for the re-trial.
