Cardboard Boats Bob Through Jackson Pool

Nearly a dozen people participated in the 8th annual Cardboard Boat Races at the Jackson Aquatic Center in Medford on Saturday.

Some cruised through the water, while other didn’t do so well.

Participants were only allowed to used cardboard and duct tape to make their boats. Some that we talked to say that the design is key.

“We decided that we wanted kind of a flat boat, because one that had won was a big flat one that was only about a few inches tall.”

Among some of the sailors was one of our morning producers’ daughter, who floated in a KOBI boat she made.

After the races, everyone was invited to the water to help sink all the boats.
