Crews React Quickly To Fire In Cave Junction

A quick response tonight near Cave Junction when a grass fire broke out.

ODF had 4 crews, 4 helicopters and 2 air tankers working the fire.

The fire broke out shortly after 4pm Friday evening, six miles southeast of Cave Junction.

Crews were able to stop it at about 15 acres.

Lonnie Box with ODF said “Our crews did the best they could do. They did a great job, they went out there and hit it hard and we got it knocked down pretty quick.”

Fire fighters tell us that no structures were damaged in the fire and firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly.

The cause is still under investigation.
