Curry county residents may be facing an increase in property taxes, ether voters o.k. it or not.
A new proposal to fund public safety would ask voters in November for a $3.9 million property tax increase, that’s down from the $4.5 million that was rejected in May.
If residents turn down the increase, officials may turn to Oregon House bill 34-53, which would allow counties in financial trouble to implement new taxes without voter approval.
Officials say this would be a last resort.
