Man Arrested On Drug-Related Charges Within One Thousand Feet of Elementary School

Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement officers arrest a man for the manufacture of meth near Abraham Elementary School.

23-year-old Gabriel Perez was taken into custody Wednesday morning at his home on Stacie way in Medford.

M.A.D.G.E. officers were serving a search warrant and discovered 11 grams of methamphetamine, scales, and drug records.

Perez was also previously arrested for his alleged involvement in a drive by shooting from November of 2011, but was released because of a lack of evidence in that case.

The man was living in a room of the duplex with his girlfriend, 18-year-old Mayra Miranda, and their four year-old son.

The child has since been placed with another family member.

Miranda was cited and released for endangering the welfare of a minor.

Perez is being held on over two million dollars bail.

His charges include delivery and manufacture of meth within 1,000 feet of a school, child neglect and a parole violation for an earlier rape charge.
