Medford Police Warn of Credit Card Fraud

This holiday week was a big time for shoppers, but also, police say,for credit card scammers. Tonight, the Medford Police Department is trying to solve a possible fraud ring involving people’s credit card information.

Officials say four separate incidents were reported on Thursday of suspects possibly using self-manufactured credit cards and fake id’s to make thousands of dollars in purchases — including prepaid credit cards.

Officials say it’s crucial to watch all of your accounts.

“Credit card theft isn’t the problem, it’s identity theft altogether and making sure that when you throw bills and statements away that you shred it. Monitor your accounts, maintain control of your property, and if you do find something a mess make sure you call the police immediately.”

Officials say they aren’t sure if the suspects involved are working together or independently.

If you have any information, call the Medford police at 541-770-4784.
