Mother of Man Accused of Shooting His Neighbor Says His Innocence Will Prevail

A frail Donald Easley appeared by video monitor from the Josephine County Jail.

Easley and his mother Claryce Bishop lived at the same home up until he was taken into custody for the shooting death of Laron Estes.

Claryce says “there has been so much said that is false.”

Claryce is confident that as the court proceedings move forward..

“We have had nothing but harassment from Laron all the time, there’s been so many things happening,” she says.

She claims the record will show a history of harassment and that her son Donald feared for his life.

“He attacked my son several times,” Claryce says.

Long time family friend Robert Workman says Donald worked for him.

“He worked for me for a number of hours a day,” he says.

And that he is a good person, who wouldn’t hurt anyone.

“I think he’s a very good son, and he has a mother to take care of and she needs his help,” Workman says.

Both believe that time will reveal Donald’s innocence.

Claryce says “as soon as they find out the truth they’re going to change their minds.”

Laron Estes’ wife and mother were also briefly in the courtroom.

They both have said that Estes’ would never hurt anybody, and he was gunned down wrongly.

Two different stories, that will be played out in a courtroom.

And up to a jury to decide.

Donald Easley is scheduled to be back in court on October 24th.
