Salem Student Faces Charges After Pulling Out Handgun

A17-year old student from North Salem High School faces serious charges after allegedly pulling out a handgun in class and pointing it at another student.

Shortly after 10 am Wednesday, staff at North Salem High School reported the incident to police.

When officers arrived on campus, the teen had already fled from security.

After a thorough search in the area, the teen was located and taken into custody.

The suspect faces charges of disorderly conduct, menacing, and possession of a firearm in a public building.

No one was hurt in the incident and the apparent handgun was never found.
