Sheriff’s office releases warning after man escapes from prison

Siskiyou County, Calif. —   The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help in locating an escaped prison inmate.

Sheriff Jon Lopey said Humboldt County man Daniel Fidler escaped from Deadwood Conservation Camp in Siskiyou County Saturday night.

Lopey said Sunday morning Fidler stole a truck in the Fort Jones area and later abandoned in on state route 96. Fidler was in prison for assault and breaking and entering and he is considered dangerous.

The sheriff believes he’s headed to Humboldt County. He’s described as a white male adult, 5’8″, 175 lbs, and was last seen wearing orange clothing or grey sweatpants.

Lopey warns against picking up hitchhikers in the area. If you see anyone matching that description call 911 or (530) 841-2900.
