It was a sleepless night for 22-year-old Kailah Clair after she says her dad was stabbed seven times on Tuesday afternoon near a Planned Parenthood in Grants Pass.
“This man stabbed my dad and tried to kill him,” began Clair.
“He stabbed my dad in the throat, he stabbed my dad in the lungs, he stabbed my dad in the liver, he stabbed my dad in the back, in the stomach and in the side,” she said.
According to Kailah, it all started when she drove onto Franklin Boulevard for a medical appointment at a doctor’s office next to Planned Parenthood.
She said Christopher Tolhurst, who police say has been an active anti-abortion protester, jumped out in front of her car.
“I said sir you don’t ever get in front of someone’s car like that again, you almost caused a car accident,” said Kailah.
But she said after she kicked over some of his signs…
“He grabs me by the arms and throws me to the ground,” she said.
The bruises on her arms are still visible.
Kailah returned home, still shaken and told her father, Ted Clair, what happened. They drove over to confront Tolhurst.
“He went over to this man to ask him why he pushed his daughter down and the guy pulled a knife on my dad,” said Kailah, sobbing.
She said it was after her dad went to push Tolhurst that the knife came out.
“And now he’s fighting for his life,” said Kailah.
All because she says a father was standing up for his daughter.
“I wish none of it had ever happened.”

Meantime, Kailah is reminded about what happened everytime she looks down at her hands, where the knife cut her as she tried to keep the man from stabbing her dad.
“I hope he’s going to be okay because if not I don’t know what going to happen to me…I love him so much and the thought of losing him is heart breaking.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, Kailah Clair said her dad is in critical but stable condition. She said she plans to press charges.
