Talent Grape Fair ends with memorial bike race

Talent, Ore. — The Talent Chamber of Commerce and Rogue Valley Race Group held their first annual Bike Chata memorial race Sunday morning.

Around 30 bikers participated in the 20-mile race, or the four-mile family friendly race.

The event was in memory of Jozef Wayryniec Slowikowski. Slowikowski and his family used to own a restaurant in Talent called Chata. They put on the Chata Bike Race in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

“He was a very prominent member of the Talent community both biking and just in general,” event coordinator Cheyenne Dahle said. “You could see him riding down the streets of Talent all the way up until he was 90.”

After the race, bikers were treated to a barbecue by Jackson County Fire District Five.

The event wrapped up the Talent Chamber of Commerce Southern Oregon Grape Fair.
