Washington D.C. — The U.S. Government will examine the use of federal funds involved in the Cover Oregon website. The online insurance portal has not let anyone self-enroll since it launched last fall.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) says the review will be done as part of a broader study to examine states health exchange websites.
As stated in the letter addressed to Greg Walden, Chairman, Subcommittee on Communications and Technology in the House of Representatives, “GAO accepts your request as work that is within the scope of its authority and, as agreed with your staff, will undertake this work as part of a broader study planned to examine the states’ health exchange website.”
Also stated in the letter, “GAO has received several requests from congressional committees and Members to examine a range of issues related to the healcare.gov rollout.”
Last month, Rep. Greg Walden called for a review of Cover Oregon at a press conference in Medford.
