Third-graders in Klamath Falls will have access to swimming lessons at Ella Redkey Pool starting on Monday, in part thanks to a $50,000 donation from Sky Lakes Medical Center.
Community Development Director Sandra Fox said on Wednesday the city will fund the $15 per student for an hour and a half swim lesson, and Sky Lakes will reimburse the city for the program.
Conger and Pelican Elementary schools will participate in the lessons between Oct. 7 and 14 and Roosevelt and Mills Elementary schools will participate in the program between Oct. 14 and 18.
About 400 third-graders enrolled in Klamath County schools will also get the chance to participate in lessons in the spring, Fox said.
