Day Two: What’s Next in the Government Shutdown?

We’re now facing day two of the government shutdown. With 800,000 American families facing life without paychecks, lawmakers are talking again on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the House of Representatives voted on three mini-funding measures, but they all failed.

The first bill was a GOP resolution to fund the Department of Veterans Affairs while the government is shutdown. While the vote was 264 to 164 in favor, it required a two-thirds majority to pass.

The second republican resolution was to continue funding the District of Columbia during the shutdown, that also failed to get the two-thirds majority needed.

A third vote to fund national parks and museums failed as well, with 252 in favor and 176 against.
