The government shutdown is creating huge question marks for supplemental nutrition program “Woman, Infants, and Children” — more commonly known as WIC.That’s because it’s almost entirely federally funded.
For now, Debbie Mote-Watson at Jackson County WIC says they are open. The state sent out a letter yesterday for offices to continue operating, business as usual. Vouchers are still good and will be accepted. At this point, that is all Mote-Watson knows.
How long the program can last a shutdown is currently being discussed at the state level.
