Wildfire burns in Southern California

12.26 VENTURA FIREVentura, Calif. — Wildfires continue to burn in California.

The fast-moving fire near Ventura prompting mandatory evacuations in the area, as well as the temporary closure of Highway 101.

The blaze burning over 1,200 acres already in Solimar Beach. Management officials say the fire was 60 percent contained as of Saturday evening.

Ventura county fire officials also say the cause of the blaze is believed to be due to a downed power line in the area.

They estimate firefighters will be working on extinguishing the fire for the next 3 days.
