Officials Investigate Fatal Car Crash Outside Gold Hill

Officials are investigating the cause of a fatal car crash that occurred late last night, outside of Gold Hill.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies say around 10:30 Thursday night, a car driving on Sardine Creek road took a turn too fast, left the roadway, and struck a tree. Officials say neighbors heard the crash, and called 911.

We’re told firefighters arrived on scene first, and found the female passenger deceased on the scene. Officials describe the male driver’s condition as “serious.” He was transported to an area hospital.

Authorities are working to determine if there were any other factors in the crash. That investigation will continue later on Friday.
