King of the Rogue Race

Nearly 75 people took the rapids of the Rogue River this afternoon in hopes of being crowned “King of the Rogue”

The first annual event invited raft teams, kayakers and stand up paddle boarders to ride down Ti’lomihk Falls in Gold Hill.

“It’s a great place to play because it’s really terrifying but it’s actually pretty safe for a class 4 rapid.”

“It’s an awesome thing to get Gold Hill on the map like this. This is a world class rapid, more people should be coming out to check it out.”

Today’s course was designed by Olympic gold medalist Oliver Fix.

Organizers say they thought the turn out was great and are already planning next year’s event.
