Three Fires In The Merlin Area

Donna Sturley hoses down her grass, because that’s all she can do.

“I’ve just got to prepare when it comes it comes fast

prepare for the worst.”

At around 2:30 this afternoon she and other neighbors watched as flames came dangerously close to their Merlin homes

“I’m a little shakey but i feel better now,” says Tina Lenhart, who has lived in Merlin for 20 years.

The road off the Merlin exit was shut down by the the Oregon department of Forrestry and other fire crews because the fire that had started on monument drive spread the exit area.

Hours into the fire fight another fire broke out on 700 block of Merlin Rd.

Fire crews from Ashland, Medford, and Grants Pass worked together and contained both fires, even a third fire that broke out in Sunny Valley later in the evening.

Residents say they were thankful for the fire fighters because this is sometjhing residents they haven’t seen in the 20 years they’ve called Merlin home.
