Armed Standoff Suspect Tased

Home video of an arrest and tasing is bringing up questions tonight about a standoff in Klamath Falls…

Police told NBC2’s Lyle Ahrens that the man had been threatening to shoot himself, and cops…before they finally got him in the car.

Making the rounds on the web, and raising questions…

This home video shot by a KOBI5 viewer shows Klamath Falls deputies tasing 36 year old Hunter Luther Cole, who is already handcuffed.

Police say Cole was armed, and threatening to kill himself and others…still resisting after being cuffed.

Deputy J. Weber of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office reports that police were called to a duplex on Homedale Road shortly after five on Sunday afternoon…

“Arrived on scene, and a male was verbally agitated, threatening to kill himself and shoot deputies.”

Police say Cole came out on his porch with a high-powered rifle…creating a dangerous situation…causing neighbors to be evacuated.

“He came out several times holding one of the rifles that you pictured earlier.” Notes Deputy Weber. “And I believe it’s the fourth time he came out, we were able to subdue him.”

Police say they found more trouble in the house…

“When we went and secured the second rifle, we located a large amount of marijuana in there.” Added Deputy Weber. “And we’re ascertaining if it’s legitimate use.”

Police are trying to find out today if Cole holds a medical marijuana card.

For now, Cole is charged with menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

No word from the deputies about the use of the taser on Cole after he’s cuffed.

Police say Cole fired a shot through the ceiling of his apartment prior to their arrival.

The standoff lasted about 20 minutes.

Officers believe Cole may have been drinking prior to the incident.
