Naturalization Ceremony At Crater Lake

The4th ofJuly will have very special meaning to some of our country’s newest citizens.

Georgina Claro Velasquez was one of 12 people from nine different countries sworn in as US citizens yesterday at Crater Lake National park.

“Being a citizen is not just my dream – it’s the quality of life thatI have in America, it cannot compare with the life that any country can give to you” Velasquez said.

This is the first time a naturalization ceremony has been held at Crater Lake but park officials hope it will become an annual event.
