Egypt Swears In New Acting President

Egypt’s Supreme Court Chief justice Adly Mansour is now the country’s interim president.

Taking the oath of office in a ceremony broadcast live on state television, Mansour promising he will serve the republic and the people of Egypt. According to a military decree, Mansour will serve as an interim leader until a new president is elected.

Adate for the vote has not been set.

The country’s military overthrowing the first democratically elected president — Mohammed Morsi — Wednesday after barely serving a year in office. We are told he’s currently under house arrest.
