North Korea Threatens to “Mercilessly Strike” U.S. Military Bases

North Korea state media has confirmed that the country’s leader put the nation’s missile units on standby, to attack U.S. Military bases in South Korea and the Pacific.

North Korean state media reported early Friday that leader Kim Jong Un called an emergency military meeting, where he signed off on the order.

The report said the missile units were put on standby in response to the United States flying two nuclear-capable stealth bombers over the Korean Peninsula.

Analysts say a full-blown North Korean attack is unlikely, though there are fears of a more localized conflict.
