Jacksonville Brings in the Year of the Snake

Even though the Chinese New Year officially started last Sunday, today the celebrations continued in the Rogue Valley.

Thousands of people gathered in downtown Jacksonville for the annual Chinese New Year parade and festival.

The parade featured dancing dragons, band performances and a wide showcase of cultures.

The event even brought back memories for one valley resident who recently took a trip to China.

“I enjoyed the snake dancers, even the little unprofessional ones were cute to watch. It was a great memory of our trip. we saw the Ming tombs, the Forbidden Palace and of course climbed the Great Wall.”
