All eyes will be on New Orleans Sunday as the San Francisco 49er’s take on the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl 47.
For many that means heading to a local bar or even a friend’s house to watch the big game.
On Friday, Medford resident Kim Rodgers stocked up on food and alcohol for her super bowl or inher case, commercial watching party.
“The game ruins the whole thing,I want to see those commercials, they have some good ones out there,” said Rodgers.
WhileRogders doesn’t plan on hosting a huge party, she says she’ll make sure no one will gets behind the wheel if they do drink.
Under Oregon state law, a party host can be held liable if a guest ends up in a drunk driving crash.
“If you provide the alcohol and the place for people to drink, you are responsible for the people at your house,” said Medford Police lieutenant Mike Budreau.
“If someone is going to drive away and they are intoxicated, stop them.”
According to Oregon State Police, 270 people have been arrested on D.U.I.I. charges and 14 people have died in traffic fatalities in the past 6 years on Super Bowl weekend.
Authorities from all agencies say they will be out in full force this weekend.
The NFL is trying to crack down on drunk drivers with a campaign titled ‘Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk’ all in an effort to keep everybody safe.
Authorities also say you should designate a driver before heading out, and if worse comes to worse, you can always call a taxi.
